Bear Necessities Newsletter

We just wrapped up another fantastic week of learning here at Bear Lake!

A Note from Red Apple Dining:
Applying for Meal Benefits provides free or reduced-priced breakfast and lunch to qualifying students.

All families are eligible to apply for Meal Benefits, and we encourage those needing financial support to submit an application for the 2026-2027 school year. Completing an application is free, and all submitted information remains confidential within Seminole County Public Schools.

When completing an application, it is important to note:
  • Income verification may be required
  • All students in a household should be placed on the same application
  • Household income for all working adults is required to process the application
  • Previous year meal benefits or applications completed before June 30, 2026, expire in mid-September

In addition to free or reduced-priced meals, completing a meal benefits application may also qualify your family for discounted internet services, afterschool-programs, and more.

For additional information, please email MyMealBenefits@scps.us, watch one of the overview videos below, or call 407-320-0222.

Please ensure you have access to Skyward and ParentSquare. ParentSquare is our communication App and Skyward is our Gradebook. Both of these applications will keep you plugged into our school and your child's progress throughout the year.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedure Reminders

Morning Drop Off begins at 8:05AM - there is no student supervision before this time. For their safety, please wait until 8:05AM to drop students off.

Parents, please be alert on the car line in order to help keep our students and staff safe.

Please see the CAR LINE MAP for information about the 2 car lines for arrival and dismissal.

Follow staff directions and stay off your cell phones.

Stay in your car while in car line.

Do not park in the parking spots and walk through the car line to drop off or pick up your child.

Pull all the way up the ramp when it is your turn in order to make enough room for all cars. Do not leave empty space between cars. For safety, your car will not be filled until it is where staff directed it.

There is no parking in the primary line handicapped parking spaces unless you are a PreK ESE parent or have been directed to do so by a staff member.

And finally, please work with your children on how to buckle/unbuckle themselves so they can get out the car without assistance and get themselves in and safe for the car ride home.

FAST and STAR Assessments will be finished over the next week.

Please see the information linked below about the test and testing policies/procedures from SCPS and the Florida Department of Education.
