Bear Necessities Newsletter

Today was such a fantastic day!  Thank you to everyone who helped make our Fun Run and APEX Fundraiser a success.  The students and teachers had an amazing time out running laps.  Thank you PTA!  Thank you Parents!  Thank you Teachers! Thank you Bear Lake Community!

Tonight is Trunk or Treat.  Please park at the front of the school and walk back to the bus loop.  That area will not be available for cars to park as we will be holding the event in the back.  This is a family event, not a drop off event.  Students need to be supervised by a parent or guardian while at our event.

Clinic Consents - Parents, we still have over 300 students who cannot receive care in our clinic or from a staff member (teacher, PE coach, etc).  This includes ice, bandaids, etc.  The clinic consent must be completed every school year.  Please go onto Skyward and fill out the Clinic Consent form.

Please ensure you have access to Skyward and ParentSquare. ParentSquare is our communication App and Skyward is our Gradebook. Both of these applications will keep you plugged into our school and your child's progress throughout the year.

🎃👻 DON’T GHOST SCHOOL THIS OCTOBER! 👻🎃

October is a great time for spooky fun, but missing school is one thing that should never become a scary habit!

A few missed days can seem harmless, but when absences start adding up, they can lead to:
👻 Missing important instruction
👻 Falling behind on assignments
👻 Feeling disconnected from classmates and teachers
👻 More stress about catching up
👻 Difficulty staying on track academically

Sometimes, the hardest part becomes coming back after you've been gone.

As we approach the upcoming 3-day weekend with schools closed on Monday, October 12, we encourage families to make attendance a priority before and after the break. Every school day provides valuable opportunities for learning, growth, and connection.

✨ The good news? You don't have to face attendance challenges alone.
If attendance is becoming a concern, reach out before it becomes a bigger issue. Your school's support team is here to help and problem-solve with you, not judge.
📞 Contact your school's assigned School Social Worker or School Counselor for assistance and resources. Together, we can help identify barriers, create solutions, and ensure your student stays connected to learning.
📚 Every Day Counts. Every Student Matters. 🎃👻

📸 Photography – Snap a photo that tells your story.
🎶 Music Composition – Write an original song or create a melody that shows where you belong.
🩰 Dance Choreography – Show us your moves and express your story through dance!
📑 Literature – A poem, short story, essay, or personal reflection about a name, family story, recipe, or meaningful memory.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedure Reminders

Morning Drop Off begins at 8:05AM - there is no student supervision before this time. For their safety, please wait until 8:05AM to drop students off.

Parents, please be alert on the car line in order to help keep our students and staff safe.

Please see the CAR LINE MAP for information about the 2 car lines for arrival and dismissal.

Follow staff directions and stay off your cell phones.

Stay in your car while in car line.

Do not park in the parking spots and walk through the car line to drop off or pick up your child.

Pull all the way up the ramp when it is your turn in order to make enough room for all cars. Do not leave empty space between cars. For safety, your car will not be filled until it is where staff directed it.

There is no parking in the primary line handicapped parking spaces unless you are a PreK ESE parent or have been directed to do so by a staff member.

And finally, please work with your children on how to buckle/unbuckle themselves so they can get out the car without assistance and get themselves in and safe for the car ride home.

FAST and STAR Assessments will be finished over the next week.

Please see the information linked below about the test and testing policies/procedures from SCPS and the Florida Department of Education.
